General

Everton FC, officially Everton Football Club, is an English football club based in Liverpool. The club was founded in 1878 and is one of the most successful English football clubs. With nine championships, five FA Cup victories and a victory in the European Cup Winners' Cup, the club can look back on a proud success story.

Founding members of the Football League, Everton FC have spent more time in the English top flight than any other club since the league was formed. Only four second-class years interrupted the long and successful time in the Premier League.

Dixie Dean is one of the most famous players to wear Everton FC jerseys. The forward won three championships and a cup during his time with the Toffees in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The club experienced another successful period in the mid-1980s, when Everton FC won two more league titles and the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup. Since then, the 1995 FA Cup win has been the club's last major success.

The traditional rivalry with Liverpool FC, which also comes from Liverpool, goes back to a split in Everton FC. The club split after a dispute over the rent for Anfield Stadium and since then the Toffees have played their home games at Goodison Park while the Reds are based at Anfield. The duels between the two clubs are known as the "Merseyside Derby" and are among the most important games on the English football calendar.

Everton FC currently play in the Premier League and have a large fan base that can be found both in Liverpool and around the world. The club has a long tradition and is one of the most important and successful English football clubs.
